Well it's not commercial grade (no sound, colors or scoring)... but I've cobbled together a simple pinball game.

The code is AS3 under FlashDevelop.

Here's the swf file so you can see the game. I'll post the code if someone's interested.

I'm actually working on a pinball game at the moment too Smile Got tools set up for generatign bezier curve segments for rails using collisions layers for multiple layered boards etc and stuff.

To aid in it's development i'll be writing a level editor which will work as a general editor for nape worlds which i may (may) advance to the point to be released as a general editor perhaps including some form of scripting for custom component style stuff Smile

Little test made last week of the bezier curve stuff: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/c23f28357ee72c62f681f829 808be656

Sounds like you are miles ahead of me. Write an Game Editor??? not miles, light years ahead.

I was planning to use CS4 to create/edit tables and game objects (well, not me but anyone with artistic talent) and utilize their movieclip library to develop Nape space objects. That way I only have to implement the game logic. I'm plodding down that simpler path.

The task of tying game logic to the objects within a Pinball editor is one task well beyond my meager capacity. However, I have toyed with the idea of creating a god editor in a simulated world where there is no game logic just a table containing game objects. Some akin to 'Life' but with sentient objects. The table would have definable characteristic zones (editable) the objects would have definable senses/motions/goals (editable). The god editor could then create a world, design and place objects in the world and let the simulation run. You could define goals for the god editor, but personally I would probably get enough enjoyment just watching my creations chase their own tails.

I think I'll take a stab at this god editor thing after pinball.

I started the pinball thing in July! Three and a half months later, here's where I'm at....

I'm getting to a point, where I'm not too sure where to go next. And, I fear I'm leaving the 'Nape' realm of influence.

I think the next thing to put into this project is "game play" and art work. Neither item seems to fit in this forum - or does it?

Should I droll on here about whether the ball's bouncy enough, I should/shouldn't let the ball rotate, or whether or not the ball-catcher's magnetic force is too much in this forum... or should I move it to a different venue???? Keep in mind, I don't know any other venue. I'm a real amateur at this "forum" stuff and to date, I've only participated in this forum.

Anyway, here's where I'm at.

Oh, BTW I tried doing the bezier thing... it was to hard for me, so I cheated.

I think it would probably be better elsewhere for those sort of more general questions, certailny whilst this forum is still very quiet. Newgrounds and FGL spring to mind (i'm a user in both) and possibly Tig forums also, FGL chat can be a good place to get quick discussions going.

Hi,

I'm new to Nape. Learning to make a pinball game using Nape seems like a perfect way to be introduced to many features and approaches when using Nape. Does anyone have any tutorials or source code for creating a pinball game?

cheers.
